POSITION SUMMARY:  Prepares, cooks, and serves foods in quantity at an assigned school site; assist in other food preparation duties as directed; maintain facilities in a clean and sanitary condition.

 

REPORTS TO:  Lunchroom Manager

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Prepares food according to food safety requirements, and records temperatures of  equipment and food at time of service. 
  2. Reinforces the practice of frequent hand-washing and takes steps to prevent cross contamination. 
  3. Monitor temperatures of food to assure safety and quality standards are met; monitor  water temperatures to assure proper temperature for sanitizing. 
  4. Measures and mixes ingredients according to standardized recipes. 
  5. Assists in storing unused food and supplies, dispose of unusable leftovers; utilize proper methods of handling foods to be stored. 
  6. Observes and tests food being cooked. Takes the internal temperature of food to  determine that it is cooked. 
  7. Washes, peels, cuts, and shreds vegetables and fruits to prepare them for use.
  8. Serves food according to established guidelines and replenishing serving containers  as needed. 
  9. Keeps accurate records of amounts used. 
  10. Cleans cafeteria equipment, utensils and appliances and stores food supplies; assure compliance with kitchen sanitation and safety procedures and regulations. 
  11. Serves on line as instructed. 
  12. Prepares and bake food for special events as needed; assist at banquets or special  events as required. 
  13. Operate Point of Sale software to account for meals during meal service.
  14. Assist in unloading weekly deliveries.
  15. Performs any other such duties as so designated by the Principal.

 

EDUCATION: Any combination equivalent to: high school diploma, G.E.D. Certificate or the District will provide an opportunity by the District upon employment to obtain a High School Equivalency Diploma at no cost to the employee.

 

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions  of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Medium Work: Lifting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally and 10 to  25 pounds frequently as needed to move objects.  Ability to lift, bend, reach and stand.  Prolonged periods of standing
